The Oklahoma 100 Goldback Note honors Libertas—Liberty, celebrating the legacy of the 45th Infantry “Thunderbird” Division and all who fought for freedom. At its heart stands Libertas, radiant and resolute, symbolizing Oklahoma’s unity, sacrifice, and the enduring truth: “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.” —Thomas Jefferson

This note stands as a tribute to Oklahoma’s citizen-soldiers, Native warriors, and the enduring spirit of liberty.

Currency Highlights:

  • Contains 1/10 oz (0.1 oz) of .999 fine gold.
  • Individual notes are housed in a protective plastic sleeve.
  • Face: The obverse depicts Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom, standing united with the soldiers of the 45th Infantry Division as they advance across the battlefield. Draped in a flowing gown of stars and stripes inspired by the Oklahoma State Seal, she embodies justice and liberty, while her shield displays the seals of the Five Civilized Tribes, representing the unity between Native nations and the state they helped build. Surrounding them, Sherman tanks, Willys MB jeeps, and fighter planes honor the mechanized support that carried Oklahoma soldiers through Europe. Above, a bald eagle—sacred in Native tradition—soars beneath a flash of lightning, symbolizing the Thunderbird, protector and bringer of divine justice. At Libertas’s feet lie a broken shackle and a gleaming Star of David necklace, solemn tributes to the liberation of Dachau and the lives saved there. The soldiers press forward beneath a banner inscribed “Libertas,” carrying the ideal they fought for and the message they brought home, while below the scene, Jefferson’s enduring words remind us all: “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.”
